I'm actually taking the time to sit down and write a journal today calling out a photography based group; iBokeh.
Link:
ibokeh.deviantart.com/I submitted this image, 'Lightning Bokeh' to their group a few days back and it was quickly declined without reason. (You should definitely read the back story to this image)
I was super curious- Why was it declined? It clearly met all of the group's rules, guidelines and submission criteria. My capture was recently featured in a juried art-show gallery and it is easily one of my favorite exposures to date. (Even though it was a happy accident)
After being a bit disheartened that it was not accepted, I asked nicely, multiple times, as to why. Or at least for some feedback.
I was told that they "do not accept photos where bokeh is the subject" of the exposure. WHAT?
A group named "iBokeh"?
This really got me interested. I did a bit of research and look what I found...
...image, after image, after image, where bokeh itself was the subject of the photograph!
I will not critique the above images on aesthetic or technical value since that is not what this entry is about.
I am really just trying to get down to the bottom of this. I am truly perplexed!
If anyone could offer any feedback or thoughts, I'd be glad to hear it!
